This trip combines the best of the Andean world: an exciting day of hiking along the historic Inca Trail, you will visit impressive archaeological sites such as: Chachabamba, Wiñaywayna, Intipata, and Inti Punku (Sun Gate) from where you will appreciate the first views of the impressive Machu Picchu. You will have a restful night in a cozy hotel in Aguas Calientes.

The next day, you will experience the culminating moment with a guided tour of the majestic citadel of Machu Picchu, where history and nature intertwine in perfect harmony. A short, comfortable and emotional experience that will connect you with the magic of the Incas and the impressive landscapes of the Andes.   • Lunch on the last day after visiting Machu Picchu.
  • Entrance to the hot springs costs 20 soles (optional).
  • Bus down to Aguas Calientes on the second day (You can buy the ticket if you wish for US$ 12. Or walk back down, it takes 45 minutes and you will have a complete experience)
  • Lunch on the second day.

  • Tipping for your guide is optional.

IMPORTANT:: The first day of this hike includes a Box Lunch (cold lunch) which usually consists of a hearty sandwich, fruit and some cookies. As part of our commitment to ecological sustainability, your box lunch comes in a specially designed reusable cloth bag, which you can keep at the end of your tour or return to your tour guide to be recycled. Please note that you will need to carry your own box lunch during the hike. The bags are ideal to be placed in or on a backpack and weigh no more than two kilos when full. (OPTIONAL TO CONSIDER).

Summary Itinerary

  • The tour of Short Inca Trail to Machu Picchu 02 days - 01 night It starts from the pick up at your hotel or hostel (4:00 am approx.) We will travel for an hour and a half until Ollantaytambo where we will stop for breakfast (not included in the price of the tour).
  • After our stop we will drive you to the train station where you will board the train leaving from the train station Ollantaytambo heading to Km 104 (start of our walk). The train ride lasts an hour and a half, during which you will be able to appreciate beautiful landscapes and different ecosystems.
  • Upon reaching km 104 and then crossing a suspension bridge to reach the checkpoint, you must present your passport or the document with which you made your reservation.
  • After completing the respective controls, we will begin the walk uphill for 4 hours until we reach the site Inca Wiñaywayna que en quechua significa (por siempre joven) Wiñaywayna It is 2,680 meters above sea level and is considered one of the most attractive sites on this tour. After your guided tour we will stop to eat our box lunch or snack.
  • After recharging our batteries we will continue our walk for an hour and a half until we reach Intipunku (Sun Gate) where you can enjoy the first panoramic views of Machu Picchu.
  • Finally we will continue walking along the last section of the Inca trail until we reach the place where you can take the classic photo (postcard photo) with the ancient citadel.
  • After this short break, we will descend to the main entrance, here we will get on the bus that will take us to Aguas Calientes to spend the night.
  • Once we got to Aguas Calientes, you will have some time to relax at the hotel before your dinner and then plan the tour in the citadel on the last day of the tour.
  • On the second day you can enjoy and get to know Machu Picchu as much as possible and you can do it in two ways 

1). You can walk for an hour and a half from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu along a path with steps.

2) You can take the bus for about 25 minutes rumbo a Machu Picchu.

  • If you are interested in seeing the sunrise in this ancient Inca city, you will have to get up very early to go to the bus station where you will have to wait for the departure of the first buses heading to Machu Pichu; 
  • Once you have arrived at Machu Picchu, you will have your 2-hour guided tour of this historic site.
  • After the guided tour the guide will give you your train tickets for your return trip to Cusco.
  • After your visit to Machu Picchu, we return to the town of Aguas Calientes so you can have lunch. You will find many restaurants and you can choose the one that suits you best.
  • After your lunch you will have to go to the train station and board it. You will arrive at the Ollantaytambo station, where the transport will be waiting for you with your name on it and you will be taken to the city of Cusco. The trip takes approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes.
