The 4-day, 3-night Salkantay Trek is a fascinating alternative to the classic Inca Trail, one of the most iconic routes in Peru. Starting in the historic city of Cusco (3,399 masl), we will head towards Soraypampa, where you will witness the first views of the imposing Salkantay Snow-capped Mountain (6,270 masl), the majestic guardian of the Vilcanota Mountain Range.

Summary Itinerary

  • DAY 01: CUSCO – MOLLEPATA – HUMANTAY LAKE – SALKANTAY PAMPA

    Our adventure begins with the pick up from your respective hotels in Cusco from 4:00 to 4:30 am. to take you for 2 hours to Mollepata where we will have our breakfast, then we will travel for one more hour in our mobility to Soraypampa, point where the walk begins for 1:45 hours towards the Humantay lagoon, once we reach the lake we will have free time to visit, photograph and explore the place, then we descend for 1:45 hours towards Soraypampa, to go for 1 more hour to our Rumi Wasi camp in (Salkantay Pampa) to enjoy a nutritious lunch, then you can explore the place or take a nap. In the afternoon we will offer you tea and dinner. As you will also spend the night in an ANDEAN HUT (Andean hut), sheltered by the sacred mountains.

  • DAY 02: SALKANTAY PAMPA – SALKANTAY PASS – CHAWLLAY

    On our second day of adventure our cooks will wake us up with a hot cup of coca tea at 6:00 am to get ready and enjoy our breakfast. We will leave the camp at approximately 7:00 am. During the entire journey we will appreciate the Salkantay snow-capped mountain, streams that have the Salkantay snow-capped mountain as their source, flora typical of the Andean puna area and animals such as squirrels, eagles, llamas and alpacas. We will arrive at Huayracmachay where we will have our buffet lunch. After our lunch we will continue the walk through the cloud forest, where we will appreciate the varieties of orchids and the formation of rivers and waterfalls of great magnitude and also this day we can appreciate the majestic Apu Salkantay snow-capped mountain, arriving at Chawllay where tea time awaits us, our buffet dinner, a bonfire in honor of life (Andean tales) and then we will spend the night in our Andean huts.

  • DAY 03: CHAWLLAY – PLAYA SAHUAYACO - HIDROELÉCTRICA – AGUAS CALIENTES

    This day we will also get up early to enjoy our buffet breakfast at 6:30 am. We will begin our walk appreciating a variety of coca crops, considered the sacred leaf of our ancestors which is currently cultivated in tropical areas. This last stretch will be downhill to Playa where we will participate in the COFFEE TOUR and from there we will take a transport to Santa Teresa until we reach Hidroeléctrica. In Hidroeléctrica we begin again with our journey to reach Aguas Calientes, a place where we can visit the hot springs (optional) and where we will spend the night.

  • DAY 04: MACHU PICCHU – CUSCO

    Today is the most important day of our trip, we will wake up around 4:00 in the morning to have our breakfast or (box breakfast) at 4:30 am we will begin our walk to the lost citadel of the Incas "Machu Picchu. "We will arrive at the sanctuary of Machu Picchu at 6:00 am to begin our guided tour for approximately 2 hours through the most important places of this archaeological center, after our guided tour you will have free time to visit the places of greatest interest and at the same time be able to visit the Wayna Picchu mountain (Optional). Passengers who return by bus must be at the Hydroelectric station no later than 3 pm to then bring them for 6 hours to the city of Cusco. Passengers returning by train must be at the station 30 minutes before the departure of their train, in Ollantaytambo our transportation will be waiting to bring them to the city of Cusco.
